Fridays at the Pushkin Museum

06.10.2017 – 27.04.2018

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts is starting a new season of Fridays at the Pushkin Museum events. This year the primary festival venue will be the Main Building of the Pushkin Museum (12 Volkhonka). A new event this season will be “Cultural Diplomacy” – a series of meetings with ambassadors, counselors for cultural affairs and directors of museums from all over the world. The ambassador of Mexico in Russia, Norma Pensado, will speak at the opening of the “Fridays at the Pushkin Museum” season on October 6.

The program will include talks by famous cultural experts, philosophers and art historians. It also offers tours through the season’s major exhibitions, including “Cai Guo-Qiang. October”, “Chaïm Soutine. Retrospective View”, and “Mat Collishaw ‘Seria Ludo. Turning It Into A Game’”, as well as tours through the permanent exhibition in the Main Building.

Soloists from the  State Academic Symphony Orchestra “Evgeny Svetlanov” and the “Novaya Rossiya” orchestra, professors, and the best alumni of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory will take part in the concert program, along with chamber orchestras and foreign artists.

In December, due to the “Svyatoslav Richter’s Winter Nights” festival, our “Friday” events will be held in the 19th and 20th Century European and American Art Gallery. You will be able to take tours through the exhibition “Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. Drawings from the collection of the Albertina Museum (Vienna)”. If you would like to learn more about the permanent exhibition of the Gallery, which holds one of the most significant collections of impressionist art works, the festival offers tours with researchers from the Department of 19th and 20th Century European and American Art.

Famous orchestras, including New Music Studio, “Novaya Rossiya” Orchestra, the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble and others, will take part in our traditional “concerts on the stairs”.

Tours in sign language for the hearing-impaired and deaf are also available in both Museum buildings.

The “Fridays at the Pushkin Museum” festival has been held by the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts twice a year since 2014.

The curator is Anna Genina.

The schedule of events for every Friday is published in advance on the Museum’s official website.
