Cai Guo-Qiang: October

In September 2017, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts will present leading international contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang’s first solo exhibition in Russia: Cai Guo-Qiang: October. A reflection on the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, the ambitious body of work originally created for the exhibition will transform the main exhibition areas of the museum.

Private Collections

Over 150 art works of Aleksander Tyschler – paintings, graphics, sketches for costumes and scenic designs from the collection of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts are presented at the exhibition. A number of items from various private collections are also included in the exhibition, which is arranged to highlight the launch of the catalog of Tyschler’s works from the holdings of the Pushkin Museum. This book marks an important step in exploration of the fascinating legacy of Aleksander Tyschler, whose art works connected theater stage and poetic imagination.

2017 marks the 90th anniversary of archaeological activities of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in the Eastern Crimea and the Taman Peninsula. The exhibition “Panticapaeum and Phanagoria. The Two Capitals of the Bosporan Kingdom” is organized to celebrate this milestone year.

Giorgio Morandi. 1890–1964

After more than 40 years since the 1973 exhibition of Giorgio Morandi’s works at The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum organizes an extensive retrospective show dedicated to the oeuvre of Morandi (1890–1964) – one of Italy’s leading artists of the 20th century and an iconic figure of European art. Morandi’s art is internationally acclaimed, and his works that never lose their relevance represent a major interest for the audience and artists from all around the world.
