The exhibition is dedicated to Olga Khokhlova, Pablo Picasso’s wife and muse. They met in 1917 when Picasso was working on the costumes and scenery for Erik Satie’s “Parade” ballet.

Baroness d'Oettingen’s Paris nights

Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts is organizing this exhibition in partnership with French colleagues aiming to re-create the intense atmosphere of life in Paris d'Oettingen and Férat had in 1900s–1950s. The displayed items will include materials from the private archives of the French heirs of Baroness, the Roussot family, previously unknown to the broad audience, as well as exhibits drawn from collections of Center Georges Pompidou and the City of Paris Museum of Modern Art.

Visual arts of Edo period

“Visual Arts of the Edo Period” is the main exhibition event of the Russian-Japan Bilateral Year. About 120 art works of painters representing various traditional art schools will be displayed int the project. Russian public will be able to appreciate the diverse spectrum of Japanese traditional art of 16th–19th centuries, including works by the masters representing Kano, Tosa, Rinpa, Nanga, Maruyama-Shijo, and Ukiyo-e schools of painting.

Today we present three works by the Russian art group Provmyza (Galina Myznikova, Sergey Provorov) that in the future will take their place in the permanent collection of Pushkin Museum XXI: Despair (2008), Inspiration (2008), and Eternity (2011). The visual codes and the range of impressions of these video installations surprisingly smoothly and naturally fit into the context of the museum collection.

William Henry Fox Talbot. At the Origins of Photography

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts presents the first Russian exhibition of works by William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-1877), one of the inventors of photography. The exhibition will display rare photographs which became iconic milestones in the history of visual arts: about 150 original prints and negatives from the collections of the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (UK), as well as imaging devices: a camera obscura and camera lucida from the Polytechnic Museum in Moscow.

Chaim Soutine. Retrospective

On October 24, 2017, the first-ever exhibition of the work of Chaïm Soutine (1893–1943) in Russia will open at The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. A Russian-born French artist, Soutine was a leading representative of the School of Paris. The artist’s oeuvre combined elements of old European painting with new trends in art and united the European and American schools of painting.
