The boundaries of the site, where the Pushkin Museum's Centre for the Aesthetic Education of Children and Young People and their "Museion" have been located since 2006, had been defined by 1674, when it became the property of the noble line of the Miloslavskii family. Gradually the property came to a resemble a country estate since there was a grand courtyard in front of the main wooden building and west of it an extensive garden, while along the northern edge (to the rear of the building) there were wooden and brick out-buildings. During the fire of 1812 the main wooden building of the property did not suffer.

In 1913 a two-storey brick building in the neo-classical style was erected up against the main wooden building.

At the end of the 1990s, while restoration work was going on, the main wooden residence dating from the 1770s was dismantled and replaced by a brick building of the same measurements and with outside walls in the same style. This now houses the "Museion".
